Cadeau van het Keyzershof

Cadeau (is) was the "little" colt at Droomvanger. He was born on the 5th of May, 2009 he will be 2 years old in a few weeks. But despite his young age he is already HUGE. Whoopi is 1,68m approx. and Cadeau is slowly getting taller than her. One of his grand fathers grew to be 1,90m ! We sincerely hope he doesn't grow that tall too. You can see how tall he is on the last picture; I am 1,73m and he stands way over my head.
Last week Cadeau became a gelding, the last thing we were waiting for is the current hot weather cos the wound stays open to heal; cold weather and rain would have been better as we are now constantly fighting flies to keep them away from his wound.
Today while waiting for the osteopat for Whoopi I gave Cadeau some nice scratching on his itchy spots in his neck.

Spring is in the country !

The horses are enjoying the first spring days with wonderfull sunny weather. Whoopi really enjoys being with the other horses and feels totally at ease in the herd. What a difference with a few months ago !

Whoopi is often together with Pepper, the quarter gelding. He is a quiet horse which she seems to appreciate. I like Pepper too! He is sweet, cool in his head and down to earth and above that a really good looking quarter horse.

Whoopi had her yearly check-up of her teeth. She behaved impeccable. She stood still and waited patiently for her teeth to be cleaned. She had just 1 little hook that was removed. Next week Yannic, the osteopat comes by to check on Whoopi.

Whoopi's 19th birthday on the 2nd of April, 2011

We celebrated Whoopi's 19th birthday. We did some TTEAM groundwork and bodywork which she both enjoys very much. TTEAM groundwork learns a horse a lot about his/her balance. The TTouches can release and relieve stress and tension in several body parts. She loves the ttouches on her jaws. The head wrap brings her focus to the excercise and the green wrap around her neck learned her again to lower her head when stopping. She could find her balance back without having to put her head up every time she stops.

After all that work the fresh hay was very welcome.

As far as you can see is the land that the horses can use, the houses in the background are the more or less the borders of the land. The other half is behind me from where I took the picture. Space enough !

Whoopi moved to a new home.

Yesterday we moved Whoopi to her new home. Her new home is only a 15 min. drive from where we live so I can visit her much more. Another reason was that she could not get used to the herds at Spirithorses so we had to find another solution. She will now be living in a smaller herd in a private open stable. There are 4 other horses besides Whoopi. Vaillant is a 13 year old Belgian Warmblood gelding, Pepper is a 17 year old quarter gelding, Indy is a 13 year old Trakehner mare and Cadeau is a 2 year old male foal.

When we arrived yesterday with the truck she couldn't wait to get on the truck, once we settled her in her new home it looked like she had always been there. She was very calm and relaxed and seemed to enjoy her new environment and her new friends with whom she immediately seeked contact.
